Dr. Gaylord, DVM, MA
Dr. Gaylord earned his DVM at Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Before opening North Slope Veterinary, he worked as an Associate Veterinarian at Jersey City Animal Hospital and at the Humane Society of New York in Manhattan.
Prior to veterinary school, Dr. Gaylord received his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and then went on to Hunter College where he earned his Masters of Arts in Anthropology with a focus on primate behavior. He conducted field research with primates in Belize, Nicaragua, and Vietnam, and is passionate about wildlife conservation.
Dr. Gaylord lives in the neighborhood with his wife and son and their dog, Turbo. He is committed to providing excellent veterinary care to Brooklyn pets and their families.
Dr. Lazarus, DVM
Dr. Lazarus completed her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Midwestern University in Arizona. Before joining the North Slope team, she completed a rotating small animal internship, gaining emergency and specialty experience at VERG in Brooklyn. She likes the variety of small animal primary care, and has special interests in surgery, wound management, internal medicine and neurology.
Before becoming a vet, Dr. Lazarus received her Bachelors in Biology from the University of Southern California. After graduating, she tutored for No Child Left Behind and taught SAT prep classes while learning the ins and outs of small animal veterinary practice in LA. She continued to work as a veterinary technician at integrative and emergency practices throughout vet school, and volunteered for numerous trap-neuter-release programs, as well as on Native American reservations in Southern Arizona.
Originally from Tucson, AZ, Dr. Lazarus now lives in the neighborhood with her longhaired dachshund Dash and her greyhound Jolene. Outside of work, she enjoys camping and hiking, and is always doing something creative.
